No.115 and No.215 carry the same five ingredients in the same order, and share one goal: protection and finish with nothing you can feel. No.215 is the one calibrated to leave slightly more on the hair, made for thick, stiff hair that will not settle. Both bottles took more than two years of testing raw materials on real heads in our San Francisco salon before they were finished. Why we made two oils instead of one explains what that testing involved and how the two formulas differ.

The Same Five Ingredients, Calibrated to Stay

Argan Oil, on the Softening Side

No.215 is calibrated to leave slightly more on the hair than No.115. Argan is rich in oleic acid, the fatty acid associated with a soft, supple feel rather than a crisp one — which is what stiff hair is missing. Hair thick and straight enough to stand away from the head doesn't need to be held down. It needs to be soft enough to bend where you put it. That is the job we gave this bottle.

Broccoli Seed Oil, for Hair That Won't Lie Flat

Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Seed Oil is often described as a plant-based alternative to heavy silicones, and what it gives No.215 is slip: the comb moves, the section falls where you point it, and the ends stop sticking out sideways. On short, thick hair, that is the difference between hair that is styled and hair that has only been dried.

No Water — Which Is Why It Goes Under a Flat Iron

No.215 is a zero-water formula. There is no moisture in it that has to boil off, so it can be applied to dry hair immediately before flat iron work, including during a chemical straightening service. It is also why the formula needs no preservatives, and why there is no added fragrance and no alcohol — worth knowing if you are wearing it daily and don't want it competing with anything else.

What This Doesn't Do

No.215 will not make thick hair thin, and it is not a relaxer. It softens what is already there so it cooperates for the day. If your hair is fine and loses volume the moment anything touches the roots, No.115 is the bottle built for you.

How to Use

On Wet Hair — Recommended

1. After shampooing, apply to towel-dried hair while still wet
2. Spray from roots to ends — do not skip the roots. Full coverage gives your hair a healthy glow from top to tip
3. Let it absorb for about 4 minutes for best results
4. Blow-dry and style as usual
5. For dry or damaged ends, re-apply a light mist to mid-lengths and ends during blow-drying

On Dry Hair — Finishing & Shine

Use a smaller amount and spray directly, or spray once into your palm and distribute evenly through your hair for a seamless Sleek Alignment finish.

Before Flat Iron & Chemical Straightening

Apply No.215 before flat iron work during chemical straightening services for enhanced protection and Sleek Alignment. It is also an ideal at-home care product after a relaxer treatment.

Do you need a rinse-out conditioner?
If your hair hasn't had a chemical service (color, perm, or straightening), our S-7 Daily Shampoo followed by No.215 is usually enough on its own — wash, then finish, with no rinse-out conditioner in between. If your hair is chemically treated, very long, or simply feels tangled after rinsing, keep your rinse-out conditioner. This isn't a rule, it's a starting point.
